The Finest Thangka Paintings Available Today

"I am very happy with it (the Medicine Buddha Mandala). The painting is even more incredible than it seemed online." - Heidi L, San Diego

I am proud to be the US distributor for the Dharmapala Thangka Center - the top thangka workshop and school in Nepal. Dharmapala is run by Karsang Lama, a ninth generation master painter. He oversees the painting of each thangka, created in their Kathmandu workshop by a team of professional painters. Dharmapala supplies many monasteries in Nepal, and many meditation centers around the world. Karsang Lama has exhibited thangka paintings and demonstrated techniques in museums throughout Asia and Europe.

Karsang Lama has also helped found 3 orphanages in Nepal, which I have had the privilege of visiting. Dharmapala donates 20% of the proceeds of each thangka to the orphans. The orphans are living a good life and getting a good education thanks to the proceeds from the thangkas and donations from many people.

The detail in each thangka is remarkable. Each has flawless rendering, vibrant colors, and wonderful expressions. The energy of each deity emenates from the canvas. Every detail in the mountains, water, flowers and clothing are brought to life. This thangka features a beautiful rainbow halo and a Buddha in Tara's crown.
Real gold and silver are used extensively in these top quality thangkas. The the best cloth, paint, and real gold and silver leaf are part of every painting. Notice the detail of the gold work on the feet, hands, throne, and Buddha bowl. Each painting shimmers and shines.
Even tiny figures are rendered in amazing detail. This Bodhisattva is less than 3 inches tall. The buddha in his hand is only 1/4 of an inch tall. Many elements are painted into the world of each fine thangka.

The flowing parts fit together perfectly. Here the amazing beauty of the water, clouds, plants, figures, cloth and lotus petals gracefully harmonize.

Examining the attention to detail in the elements surrounding the central figure is one way to recognize a high quality thangka.

In these exquisite paintings, every element is vividly brought to life. These lotus blooms and gold encrusted ribbons seem to move with the clouds in the background.

Each thangka is framed in fine quality silk brocade. The artist who frames the thangka is expert in cutting & sewing the silk to fit perfectly.

This is the best quality brocade available. It is much finer than the cheap polyester typically used. The right color and pattern is chosen especially to match each thangka.

Here is a closeup of the silk brocade. Truly luxurious material, each woven in beautiful colors.

Each thangka has white metal caps covering the dowel at the bottom. These caps are hand made, with delicate engraving all around.

Each thangka is finished with a cover of fine quality gold silk. Red ribbons are sewn in, and are used to tie the silk up, revealing the painting.

Even this finishing touch is done in an exquisite and tasteful manner. The silk is excellent quality, and is carefully sewn to the brocade.
